January 2010

Welcome to the Winter edition of our quarterly newsletter, bringing you up to date on the latest features on our website for the Arran Knitting Company. You can also find out what we've been up to on Lynn's Winter News page.

Winter Wallet Warmer

To help keep you warm in the cold weather, we are offering a 20% discount on all of our Traditional Patterns with a Contemporary Twist  collection by Lynn Gray Ross. There's nothing like a handmade sweater or cosy handmade socks to keep the bitter cold at bay.

Knitting in the School Curriculum

There are now 5 patterns with curriculum guides on our Knitting in the School Curriculum page. These projects are based on the targets of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. They are proving to be successful in schools from Massachusetts, USA to Georgia in Eastern Europe. You can request the guide and projects free from our website.

Two of these projects, "Knit a Square" and "Wee Baby Hat", are linked to the Knit a Square project in South Africa who are helping to provide warm blankets and hats for small children and orphans with HIV/AIDS. You can read more about Knit a Square and learn how you can incorporate the project into your classroom knitting, helping to give a broader view of the benefits that can be brought from knitting.

Resources, About Arran and Lynn's Weaving Gallery

We regularly update the content of our pages. Explore the Resources section for current information about suppliers, stitches, hints, techniques and more.

The About Arran page highlights Lynn's thoughts and reflections on our wonderful island, including dramatic photography and a new poem entitled "Beach Hut" in her My Arran section.

You can also visit Lynn's personal website, which features a Gallery of Weavings inspired by the Isle of Arran.

We trust you find our website inspirational and fun to explore and we wish you all the very best for a Happy and Prosperous 2010!!
